چکیده

Since the emergence of stents, there has been persistent improvement in flexibility and deliverability of stents with modifications in its design and number of connectors. This has unfortunately created negative effect on longitudinal strength of stent resulting into a recently recognized and unaccustomed complication, longitudinal stent deformation (LSD). It is an abrupt shortening of the stent along its longitudinal axis, usually after deployment, due to various reasons. We present a case of LSD in Promus Element stent implanted at proximal left anterior descending artery. The stent shortening was about 25%-30% of its actual length. As this led to exposure of a part of lesion, it was successfully managed by overlapping another stent.

Management of a large coronary artery aneurysm with graft-coated stent during the acute phase of myocardial infarction

Coronary aneurysms in adults are rare clinical entities. Herein, we presented a 54-year-old man who was admitted with an acute extensive anterior myocardial infarction. The emergency coronary angiography revealed an isolated large aneurysm at the proximal segment of the left anterior descending coronary artery. The patient was successfully treated with a graft-coated stent

Undeployed and uncrushed coronary stent in the proximal region of the normal left anterior descending artery revealed four years after intervention

Intracoronary undeployed stent embolization is a rare and devastating complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This unexpected complication can lead to coronary thrombosis, myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock and even death. Stent embolization or misplacement has been reported in 0.3% to 1.2% of PCIs in the literature [1, 2]. Several urgent retrieval and surgical managemen...

A Case of Left Main Coronary Artery Disease in an Octogenarian Treated Surgically and Complicated by Myocardial Infarction: Decisions, Techniques, Rescue and Final Outcome

We report on an octogenarian patient presenting with an acute coronary syndrome due to significant left main coronary artery disease and severe ostial stenosis of the left anterior descending artery disease. Emergent bypass graft performed with "beating heart" consisted of left internal mammary graft to the mid left anterior descending artery with an "over-stent" anastomosis. The immediate post...

Two dislodged and crushed coronary stents: treatment of two simultaneously dislodged stents using crushing techniques

Coronary stent dislodgement is a rare complication of percutaneous coronary intervention. We report a rare case of dislodgement of two intracoronary stents. On withdrawal of two balloon catheters, one with a guide wire was mechanically distorted from the left main (LM) to the proximal left anterior descending artery (LAD) while the other was dislodged from the LM to the ostial left circumflex a...
